Amsterdam

Another weekend another country down! Amsterdam was different than other countries to say the least. It was a short but action packed weekend! To start off the trip we headed out to breakfast where they had BAGELS real american bagels perfect start to the day. From breakfast we headed to Ann Frank house, unfortunately we couldn't take any pictures inside so that was a bummer but it was unreal to see where she hid for 2 years. Also found out Ann and I celebrate the same birthday, June 12! (Learn something new everyday) Got a great deal at the museum and was only charged 4.50 for a ticket for the 17 and under...not sure about the fact that I can pull off 17 in a museum and 21 at a bar back home but a deals a deal. Next stop: Red Light District not ideal but something you have to at least experience while in Amsterdam. It was less than what I was expecting but I also think it being a blizzard and 0 degrees out had something to do with it. A block away from the red light district everything is back to normal plus WAFFLES lots and lots of waffle shops and bakeries. If you ever go to amsterdam the waffles are a must have! I had a chocolate waffle that melted in my mouth was delicious!

Day two: Started off a little bit slower.. but went out to a cool restaurant for breakfast that was inside an old carousal and by no surprise I had waffles again. After that we headed to the Van Gogh art museum that was so "highly recommended" by my parents. It was interesting for about 20 minutes seeing his art work but it got old fast. The famous painting starry night (the only one i knew of) wasn't even at the museum. If I could do it again I probably could have been fine if I skipped that but its another story to tell. The Heineken experience was next, that was more up my ally you could say. We got to help "brew a beer" and through out the museum we were able to sample the beer! All in all was a pretty successful weekend only thing is that I wish it was a little bit warmer but I cant complain!

Was surprised to come back to Rome to find out we have a SNOW DAY today (Monday). There is maybe a small layer of snow on some of the back streets but very small. The email I received said the university will be closed due to "severe weather" there is nothing severe outside currently I am looking out my window and its sunny and 40 degrees out. But it gave me a chance to sleep in after watching the super bowl last night that started at 12:30am here! All the pubs were packed last night with Americans like myself trying to watch the game. Downfall of watching the super bowl in Italy the commercials (the only thing i really care about) were all in Italian so that was a huge let down.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my "snow day"!!

SNOW IN ROME!
